Council's labor and human resource committee to meet Oct. 7

The Business Council’s labor and human resources committee will meet Thursday, October 7 at the Galleria Mall in Cheektowaga, New York.

The agenda for the meeting includes much-requested programs from earlier regional meetings in Lake Placid and Long Island.

Program topics include:

  • A discussion of the new Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), led by Darcie Falsioni from Bond, Schoeneck and King’s Buffalo office. The presentation will include information about HSAs and high deductible health plans, as well as a comparison of the new plans with flexible spending accounts and health reimbursement arrangements.

  • A guide to OSHA recordkeeping led by a representative from the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

  • An overview of labor standards in New York led by Rich Cucolo, director of labor standards for the state Department of Labor. Topics include meal period requirements in New York State, hours of work, overtime, pay frequency, the posting of fringe benefits, deductions from wages, record-keeping, required posters, termination, employment at will, child labor requirements and hours and prohibited occupations for minors.


Recertification of professional human resource credits and senior professional human resource credits are pending.
