Council plans third annual Spring Environment Conference April 29

The Business Council will update its members on environment-related regulatory issues at its third annual Spring Environment Conference Thursday, April 29, in Latham, Albany County.

The all-day conference, which will focus on how these issues affect the private sector, will take place at the headquarters of the New York State Nurses Association.

Scheduled speakers include James Ferreira, deputy commissioner and general counsel for the state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), air and water division directors from DEC, and other top officials from the DEC.

The Council has sponsored a successful Industry-Environment Conference each fall for 27 years. That conference focuses on both discussions of best environmental practices and briefings on legislative and regulatory issues.

The spring conference, which is in its third year, focuses solely on regulatory issues.

The agenda includes sessions on DEC's top priorities in air and water pollution, remediation, waste management, and other issues.

The Business Council's Environment Committee includes more than 800 environmental professionals who help shape The Council's advocacy agenda on issues related to the environment.

The committee works to keep Council members up-to-date on legislative and regulatory issues affecting companies and their environmental compliance requirements in New York.
