Comptroller Alan Hevesi to keynote CANYS luncheon

New York State Comptroller Alan Hevesi will be the keynote speaker at the Chamber Alliance of New York State’s (CANYS) annual luncheon on January 20 at the Crowne Plaza in Albany.

The luncheon is part of CANYS annual Legislative/Leadership conference. The conference is open to all New York State chamber of commerce executives and staff.

The conference agenda also includes:

  • A discussion of management trends shaping associations in the new millennium with Kip Lilly, from Lilly Foresight Dynamics.

  • Review of employer-assisted housing plans by Mariadele Priest from the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae).

  • An association health plan roundtable with Joe Dalton of the Saratoga County Chamber and Carolyn Hicks from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The roundtable will be moderated by Garry Douglas from the Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce, and Dan Colacino of Rose and Kiernan, Inc.

  • A discussion of Centers for Excellence and their impact around the state with Jeff Lovell, deputy secretary to the Governor and Alain Kaloyeros, dean of the School of NanoSciences and NanoEngineering at the University at Albany.

  • A workshop on growing chamber memberships with Joan Testa, from Chamber Development Services, Inc.

  • A briefing on the DestiNY USA project by David Cordeau of the Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce and DestiNY USA project leaders.

The agenda also includes the meeting of The Business Council’s Government Affairs Council and its Annual Legislators’ Reception.

There are still sponsorship opportunities available for the conference. Participants may sponsor the conference at four levels: platinum, gold, silver or bronze.
