Chamber Alliance annual meeting will take place Jan. 20-21 in Albany

The Chamber Alliance of New York State (CANYS) will hold its annual Legislative/Leadership Conference Jan. 20-21 at the Empire State Plaza in Albany.

CANYS is an association of chambers of commerce and their executives. Its goals are to focus the influence and work of the state's local and regional chambers, and to enhance the growth of member chambers and their executives.

The January CANYS meeting is open to all New York State chamber of commerce executives and staff.

Its agenda includes:

  • A luncheon on January 20 where the Chamber Excellence in Leadership award will be presented.

  • A discussion of management trends shaping associations in the new millennium with Kip Lilly, from Lilly Foresight Dynamics.

  • Review of employer-assisted housing plans by Mariadele Priest from the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae).

  • An Association Health Plan Roundtable with Joe Dalton of the Saratoga County Chamber and Carolyn Hicks from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

  • A discussion of Centers for Excellence and their impact around the state led by Jeff Lovell, deputy secretary to the Governor.

  • A workshop on growing chamber memberships with Joan Testa, from Chamber Development Services, Inc.

  • A briefing on the DestiNY USA project by David Cordeau of the Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce and DestiNY USA project leaders.

Participants are also invited to attend The Business Council’s annual Legislators’ Reception at 6 p.m. on January 20 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Albany.
