Council, Workers' Comp Board plan November conference on all aspects of workers' comp
The Business Council is collaborating with the New York State Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) to conduct a conference on all aspects of New York's workers' compensation system Monday, Nov. 24, in Albany.
The goal of the conference is to improve communications among employers who must pay for workers' compensation for all workers, insurers that provide that coverage, and the WCB, which administers all aspects of workers' comp in New York State, said Kerry Kirwan, The Council's specialist in workers' compensation.
Top officials from the Workers' Compensation Board, which administers workers' compensation insurance in New York State, will make several formal presentations designed to give attendees detailed information on the priorities and operations of the WCB, she added.
The session will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Turf on Wolf Road.
Specific scheduled events include:
keynote luncheon address by John Burgher, the WCB's fraud
by William Howard, Governor Pataki's chief program officer
for workers' compensation.
overview of WCB operations by Richard Bell, executive director
of the board.
detailed discussion of WCB operations by David Donohue.
Director of operations for the WCB.
review of WCB regulatory affairs and compliance issues by
Marsha Orndorff, director of regulatory affairs for the
review of WCB's legal and adjudication issues by Keith Longden
and Cheryl Wood of the WCB's counsel's office, and Anthony
Alveraz and John Ramos of WCB's office of adjudication.
