Greg Serio, state Insurance Superintendent, will keynote CANYS luncheon Sept. 19

Greg Serio, superintendent of the state Insurance Department, will speak to leaders of New York's local and regional chambers of commerce Friday, Sept. 19, at the annual luncheon of the Chamber Alliance of New York State (CANYS).

The luncheon will take place at the Sagamore in Bolton Landing and will be part of the Annual Meeting of The Business Council of New York State. CANYS is affiliated with, and administered by, The Business Council.

Serio will address current issues relating to health insurance and other types of insurance.

The luncheon's agenda also includes remarks by Preston Pulliams, vice chancellor of community colleges for the State University of New York. He will discuss ways chambers can get the most out of their relationships with community colleges and increase resources available to their local educational institutions.

In addition, several chamber representatives will share their experiences with local colleges and universities. Jim Nolan of Sienna College and Dr. John Clow of the Leatherstocking Center for Economic Education have also agreed to speak.

"The luncheon is a great opportunity for chambers to network and learn first-hand from the experiences of other chambers," said Skye Heritage, The Council's manager of regional affairs.

The luncheon will run from noon to 3 p.m. It is open to CANYS members and all chambers in the state.

CANYS is an association of chamber executives from New York's local and regional chambers of commerce committed to providing professional development opportunities for member executives and leveraging the power of chambers to promote state-government policies that will improve New York's business climate. CANYS is affiliated with, and administered by, The Business Council of New York State.
