TO ALLOW BUSINESS LEADERS TO ADVOCATE PRO-BUSINESS FEDERAL POLICIES

ALBANY—The Chamber Alliance of New York State (CANYS), an affiliate of The Business Council, is planning a Washington "lobby day" for New York State's business community on May 14.

After a reception the night before at 5:30 p.m in B369 Rayburn House Office Building, the Lobby Day event will begin at 8 a.m. May 14 with a Congressional breakfast hosted by U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY). That event will take place in 106 Dirksen Senate Office Building.

The agenda for the event also includes:

  • A legislative briefing at 9:30 a.m., also in 106 Dirksen, by: Doug Holz-Eakin, director of the Congressional Budget Office; Jim Mazzarella, Governor Pataki's Washington representative; John Faso, former Assembly Minority Leader in New York State and now head of the state's TEA-21 reauthorization effort; and Joe Rubin, senior lobbyist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

  • A meeting of the New York State Congressional delegation at 4 p.m. at 2318 Rayburn House Office Building. The focus of this meeting will be transportation and infrastructure issues. This meeting is being sponsored by U.S. Rep. Sherwood Boehlert (R-New Hartford) and Jerrold Nadler (D-New York City).

CANYS is an association of chamber executives from New York's local and regional chambers of commerce committed to providing professional development opportunities for member executives and leveraging the power of chambers to promote state-government policies that will improve New York's business climate. CANYS is affiliated with, and administered by, The Business Council of New York State.
