Council schedules new workshop on OSHA compliance

The Council has scheduled another two-day course on workplace safety and health Oct. 23-24 at the Holiday Inn in Saratoga Springs.

This popular 10-hour course is authorized by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as a "voluntary compliance certification course."

Participants will receive information employers need to comply with OSHA's general industry standards. They also will gain valuable insights on how to enhance workplace safety while protecting their companies from costly OSHA penalties.

All participants will get: a binder with all instructional materials; an OSHA resource guide; and an OSHA "10-hour certification card," awarded upon completion of the seminar.

Topics to be covered include: the OSH Act; OSHA inspections, violations, and penalties; walking and working surfaces; egress and fire protection; recycling; hazardous materials; and material handling equipment.

Companies with in-depth safety and health programs have been shown to lower company costs and improve productivity by reducing exposure to workers' compensation claims, employee lost time, and equipment damage.

The seminar will be taught by OSHA-authorized instructors from Lovell Safety Management Co., LLC, leaders in workplace safety and workers' comp solutions. Tuition is $495 per person for Council members, $595 for others. That includes instruction and all materials, two continental breakfasts and two lunches, refreshment breaks, and a reception at the end of the first day.
