Responding to suggestions from members in both industries, The Business Council has created two new committees on energy and on telecommunications. Previously both interests had been served by one committee.

"Both the telecommunications industry and energy utilities are undergoing significant and rapid changes," said Kevin Lanahan, The Council's legislative analyst in energy and telecommunications. "Each of these business sectors will be better served by its own committee focusing on its own issues."

Lanahan will remain the lead staff contact for both the Telecommunications Committee and the Energy Committee.
