Council begins web ads for its Spending Watch campaign

The Council's Spending Watch campaign, urging spending restraint in the new state budget, has begun advertising on the World Wide Web.

The Council has entered into an agreement with Chichester's Empire Page, widely read by the political community in Albany and statewide, to include a link to the Spending Watch section of The Business Council's own website, www.bcnys.org.

The Empire Page, which is www.empirepage.com, receives more than 12,000 hits per week, mainly from New York State readers, but including others in Washington, D.C., and elsewhere around the world.

The new initiative is believed to be the first Web-based advertising effort related to the state budget.

The Business Council is urging Governor Pataki and the Legislature to restrain spending, to ensure that the state can continue to cut taxes and generate new economic growth.
