Staff Contact: Johnny Evers, PhD
The 2015/2016 session witnessed the passage of two important economic development and travel-related bills regarding New York State’s growing wine, craft beer, and distilled spirits industries. S.8140 revamps many sections of the Alcohol Control Beverage Law and the operations of State Liquor Authority and streamlines many application and licensing provisions for wholesalers and retailers. It also expands the hours of operations for retailers on Sunday mornings, expanding hours of service for a growing industry segment of hospitality industry often twinned with wineries, distillers, and brewers. S.7728 provides for certainty in the area of out-of-state sales for the wine and liquor industry engaging in sales beyond New York State.
