Travel and Tourism Committee Update
June 12, 2013
Governor Cuomo has released bill language that would dictate the application and siting process if a constitutional amendment passes allowing for casino gaming in New York State. This document gives an overview of the proposal,.
As a follow up to the Governor's Tourism Summit, tourism stakeholders were invited to participate in a planning session to continue to the progress that has already been made for New York State tourism and to also continue an industry-led conversation about what else can be done for the benefit of tourism. Below are the results from the planning session and also a link to a survey, the information which will be shared with participants and with the Regional Economic Development Councils.
The response to the New York statewide tourism strategic planning session held in Syracuse on May 17 was fantastic. The planning session provided our industry an ideal opportunity to follow-up on Governor Cuomo's tourism agenda while also paving the way towards stronger collaborative initiatives in the areas of market development, product development and organizational development.
Additionally, the attendees of the strategic planning session recognized the need for the industry to gather together on a more consistent manner for training and workgroup collaboration. To that end, a charge was developed and by way of this email, we'd like to issue that charge to each of the Regional Economic Development Councils for input by their tourism advisors.
