What do you think about Taste-NY? 
The Governor has again showed his support of tourism and has included many tourism related items in his Executive Budget including creating a Taste-NY program to promote NYS food products, including beer and wine. Taste-NY would be a combination of branding and marketing initiatives for these products and Taste-NY licensed retail stores that would sell these products tax free. The Governor in his State of the State speech spoke of creating these stores throughout the state including high traffic areas such as airports, train stations and at thruway rest stops. What do you think about Market-NY?
The Executive budget allots $2.5 million for I Love NY, less than the amount received last year ($2.83 million) and $3.815 million for the County Matching Funds Program, also a decrease from last year ($3.985 million). The Governor did use funds allocated to NY Open for Business for tourism marketing programs (ex. TV media buys) and has now created Market-NY, a marketing competition run through the Regional Economic Development Councils that will award $5 million for regional tourism marketing plans. Do you think this is a good idea or should that money go to I Love NY and/or the County Matching Funds program. Are you concerned how this program will work with the tourism regions and the economic development regions not being aligned?

Tourism Action Day is scheduled for March 5th

The Business Council and the members of the Tourism Industry Coalition invite you to join us at the Annual Tourism Industry Lobby Day on March 5 at the Legislative Office Building! For the second year Governor Cuomo has used the Tourism Industry as an example and platform for economic growth throughout all of New York State. Join with other business and industry leaders to advocate on behalf of tourism to your elected officials.

In addition to advocating for the necessary money needed to market New York State and our unique destinations, we need your voice to let them know how these issues impact your business and tourism:
