Regional Economic Development Council Awards

Awards were presented last week to the Regional Economic Development Council who for the past few months have been preparing proposals in a statewide competition for grant money and tax breaks to spur economic development in their respective regions. Many in the tourism industry saw this as an opportunity to help develop and invest in an industry that has a huge impact on local communities and provides tax revenues to all levels of government.

In total, the Industry received $35,329,179.50 with a large portion devoted to waterfront redevelopment, restoration of historical sites, construction and development of cultural and public use sites.  Please click here to see a complete list of tourism related awards and for more information on the Regional Economic Development Council Awards can be found here.
