Proposed Thruway Toll Hike

The New York Thruway Authority has announced plans to raise tolls by 45% on the New York State Thruway for most commercial trucks by October 2012. The details are contained in a four page Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and can be viewed here.

On July 17, The Business Council participated in a press conference opposing the hikes. Here are reports from The Business Review and Politics on the Hudson on that press conference.

Part of the toll hike rulemaking process requires public hearings across the state prior to implementation and below is information about them.

Members of the public may present testimony at these hearings. If you wish to testify, simply show up before the hearing begins and sign-in, indicating that you wish to testify. Oral testimony will be limited to three minutes. Written testimony may also be submitted with no restrictions. I'd suggest that you bring about a dozen copies of your written testimony for distribution to the hearing panel.
