Tax Committee Update

2013 Annual Conference on State Taxation
Our annual New York State Tax Conference is just a month away, to be held Thursday, April 25 at the Desmond Hotel in Albany. Unlike other state tax conferences, our event has a direct tie-in with The Business Council's advocacy efforts, and will focus on business, sales and income tax reform priorities to be addressed by Governor Cuomo's Commission on Tax Reform and Fairness.
As an added feature, the afternoon of Wednesday, April 24 will feature two bonus sessions: a COST-style session on New York State tax audit issues, for corporate tax representatives, hosted by Frank Yanover from General Electric; and a "Business Taxation for Government Affairs Professionals," presented by Karen Ryan from Ernst and Young and myself, to help bring business advocates up to speed on current business tax issues in New York State and help prepare them for future legislative action on business tax legislation.
The Business Council's overview of tax legislation included in the FY 2014 Executive Budget is available here. In addition, I will be reaching out to additional Tax Committee members over the post-Easter legislative break to discuss those New York State business tax reform issues of greatest concern to your company.
I look forward to talking with you soon, and hope to see you in Albany on April 25th.
