Sales Tax Webinars

The Department of Taxation and Finance has announced a new online sales tax return system that has been under development for the past year. The Department is holding three informational webinars for sales tax vendors. These will be held:

Monday, September 10, 2012 2:00 p.m.
Tuesday, September 18, 2012 10:00 a.m.
Tuesday, September 25, 2012 10:00 a.m.

The new system will be available for sales tax returns due after September 20, 2012; for quarterly and monthly filers, it will become mandatory for sales tax returns for the June 1 - August 31, 2013 filing period, which are due on September 20, 2013. For annual filers, the new reporting requirements become mandatory with the return due March 20, 2014.

Along with these enhancements, the Department will require sales tax vendors to report additional information: amount of debit and credit card deposits; receipts, purchases and credits by jurisdiction; and others, that will be used in sales tax administration and compliance.
