New York Health Exchange
With less than six months to go until open enrollment, New York’s Exchange continues to be developed. Please see the following newly released information, especially New York’s decision to proceed with the SHOP Exchange for 2014 despite the federal government’s delay of the same.
Policy Studies Now Available
The Health Benefit Exchange recently completed a series of policy studies, with the most recent studies referenced below:
- The role of Health Savings Accounts in the Exchange.
- Demographic characteristics of individuals who will enroll in individual or small group coverage through the Exchange.
- Recommended strategies the Exchange can implement to reduce health disparities in New York.
Important Clarification on SHOP Exchange
Recently, the federal government issued a proposed rule that put forth a delay in the implementation a SHOP Exchange feature to allow employers full choice of health plans for their employees. This announcement is a proposed rule and is not yet final, and more importantly, it applies to federally-run exchanges and will not impact New York's plans to make full choice available in the SHOP Exchange beginning on January 1, 2014.
