Annual Conference on State Taxation

The Business Council’s annual state tax conference is on Thursday, May 11. Sessions will focus on proposed Federal tax reforms, new NYS Department of Taxation and Finance rules on net operating losses, an overview of tax law changes adopted – and rejected – in the FY 2018 budget, and others. Presentations will be by state and federal tax experts, including Tax Department officials, tax practitioners and tax policy advocates. CLE and CLU credits are offered. We've Moved!

As a reminder, The Business Council’s downtown office has relocated to 111 Washington Avenue, Suite 400, Albany, New York 12210. This is the new home for our Executive, Government Affairs, Communications and Events staff. Our general phone numbers remain the same, but some extensions have been updated.

Legislative Update

Rest of Session Agenda

The Business Council has posted a list of bills and issues we will be working on the last two months of the 2017 legislative session. These include several regulatory issues, including implementation of Executive Order 162 and last year’s paid family leave act, plus a number of additional business climate improvement bills. Priorities include: authorizing CPA firms to have non-CPA minority ownership; promoting energy infrastructure investments; reducing the impact of energy assessments on energy-intensive business; adopting updates to the Business Corporation Law; and others. We will be continuously updating this list as the rest of session unfolds. Please contact me or other GAC staff members on these or other issues of interest.
