Governor's Budget Proposal – This week, Governor Paterson proposed $2 billion in spending cuts and revenue raisers aimed at closing this year's budget gap, and reducing the projected budget gap for FY 2010. Details on the Governor's budget proposals are available here. The legislature will be back in Special Session next Tuesday, November 18, to consider the Governor's proposals.
Business Council Calls for Further Cuts—In testimony to the Assembly Ways and Means Committee, Kenneth Adams said The Business Council generally supports the Governor's proposed budget actions, characterizing the spending cuts and program reforms as “fairly modest,” given the state's looming budget gaps. Adams also raised concerns about more than $500 million in proposed insurance and health care taxes and fees. Adams' budget testimony is available here.
