On June 17, 2005, Gov. Pataki appointed a top aide, Thomas J. Madison Jr., to be acting commissioner of the State Department of Transportation. Mr. Madison will replace Joseph H. Boardman, who left to become administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration.
Mr. Madison was the governor's deputy secretary for transportation. He joined the governor's staff in 1995 and helped create the state's "do not call" registry.
New Public Service Commissioner Named
Patricia Acampora of Brookhaven, Long
Island, has been appointed by Governor Pataki, and confirmed by
the Senate, as the newest Public Service Commissioner. Acampora
had served as a Member of Assembly since 1993, and was Suffolk
County’s first female Republican Leader.
