Vice President of Membership
The Business Council of New York State, Inc.

The Business Council, New York’s largest and most influential broad-based business advocacy organization, seeks a membership sales professional to lead the organization’s member recruitment and retention efforts.

The Vice President of Membership reports to the President and CEO. He/she is responsible for all dues revenue from Business Council member companies that join the association for lobbying and government affairs assistance.

The Vice President of Membership is responsible for securing sufficient new dues income as well as dues revenue from the retention of current members each year to provide the financial resources needed to advance the mission of The Business Council. A significant focus of the position is on the recruitment of and service to large national and multi-national corporations. Business Council member companies are located across the state of New York as well as beyond its borders.

The Vice President of Membership works closely with the President and CEO, the CFO and other senior staff, as well as with the Chairman of the Membership Committee of the Business Council Board of Directors and other Board Members in the process of identifying and recruiting new members to join the association. Marketing and sales strategies and tactics are developed and executed by the Vice President of Membership in collaboration with these and other individuals.

Excellent research, communication and sales skills are essential, as is experience in the business community. An understanding of NYS government and business advocacy is key. Prior experience in association membership sales is certainly a plus.

The Business Council, an equal-opportunity employer, is based in Albany, New York. The organization also maintains an office in New York City. The Vice President of Membership may work from either location. Travel throughout the state and beyond is required.
