Director of Member Communications

Job Summary:

The Director of Member Communications works primarily with the communications team, media, leadership, governmental affairs and membership departments to execute multiple communications efforts targeted to Business Council members, future members, and the public at large.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Editor, Business Council Connect newsletter, e-newsletters, government affairs and subsequent publications
    • All editing, all page layout, graphic design of in-house ads, event promotions, etc., photography, coordination, advertising with print service provider, article writing, coordination with additional content generators
  • Corporate identity and brand manager
    • Maintain organization-wide graphic standards for the corporate identity, logo and supporting materials
    • Work to generate a completely new portfolio of brochures, marketing pieces, promotional items, etc.
  • With Director of Communications leads team for issue-specific advocacy efforts
    • Act as technical administrator and writer for electronic advocacy campaigns
    • Design and produce (or supervise the production of) print advertisements and coordination with media outlets
    • Write, edit and assist in all aspects of building and maintaining a grassroots issue advocacy campaign
    • Work with government affairs staff to produce collateral marketing materials for advocacy, e-advocacy and political endorsements
  • Editorial review of website, blog and e-advocacy, e-mail, social media content w/ Web Master
  • Provide leadership and direction in a constantly changing political environment for frequent and unpredictable short-and long-term communications projects.

The Director of Member Communications reports directly to the Director of Communications.
