Contract Procurement Committee Update
June 27, 2012

State Consulting Services S.7782 (Robach)/A.10781 (Bronson)

Both houses passed a bill that would require burdensome, duplicative and costly analyses be conducted prior to any state agency contracting for consulting services that would be in excess of $500,000 over a 12 month period. The Business Council opposed this bill as it would add one more layer of bureaucracy delaying state contracts, does not take into consideration the quality of the service provided or the “opportunity” costs related to using or diverting state employees to perform the new service. To view our bill memo in opposition please click here.
