APRIL 1998Business honors Bruno twice
Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno has received two honors from the business community for his work to improve New York's business climate.
At Small Business Day March 30, The Business Council and the National Federation of Independent Business honored Bruno for his "commitment to lower taxes, smaller government, and the free market system."
The New York State Economic Development Council also recognized Bruno by awarding him its first Advance New York Award for promoting economic development and job creation.
"For five straight years, Senator Bruno has led the fight in the Legislature to cut taxes and make New York competitive for new businesses and jobs," said George Robertson, president of the Schenectady Economic Development Corp. and chair of the NYSEDC Board.
"Thousands of jobs that New Yorkers enjoy today would not exist in this state if not for Joe Bruno's tireless efforts to build a better business climate."
The award cited Senator Bruno's support of tax cuts and Jobs Now, which funds economic incentives for new business projects that create 300 or more jobs.
