NYPA's Power for Jobs allocations

The New York Power Authority (NYPA) has approved allocations of reduced-rate electric power to 102 recipients under the Power for Jobs program.

There is still time to apply for reduced-rate power available under this program, and The Business Council is strongly encouraging interested members to develop and submit applications quickly, according to Kevin Lanahan, The Business Council's specialist in energy issues.

The latest allocations, announced Sept. 28, will protect 31,202 jobs and create 1,716 more, according to the NYPA press release. Recipients include 91 businesses and 11 not-for-profit organizations.

The Power for Jobs program offers reduced-rate electric power to employers that promise to retain or create in-state jobs. The Council strongly supports this program, and, earlier this year, successfully lobbied to expand and accelerate it.

For information on applying, call NYPA at 1-888/562-7697 or call Kevin Lanahan at The Council at 1-800/358-1202.
