2006 HR QUESTION OF THE MONTH
Q. What
are the IRS standard mileage rates for the upcoming year?
A. Beginning
January 1, 1007, the standard mileage rates for the use of
a car (including vans, pickups or panel trucks) will do:
- 48.5 cents per mile for business miles driven, up from
44.5 cents;
- 20 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes,
up from 18 cents; and
- 14 cents per mile driven in service of charitable organizations,
no change from 2006.
The standard mileage rate for business, medical and moving purposes are
based on an annual study of the fixed and variable costs
of operating an automobile. The study for the IRS was conducted
by Runzheimer International.
