MARCH
2005 QUESTION OF THE MONTH - The Human Resource Line
Q.
Is there a revised Form I-9 available for employer use? The
one I'm using is from 1991.
A. There
have been no changes made to the original Form I-9 but an
updated form is in the works according to the United States
Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
Although the Form I-9 has not changed, some List A documents
have been added and deleted. For example, Form I-766 (Employment
Authorization Document) is now an acceptable List A document.
It was not on the original 1991 list. You should check the
list for other documents no longer acceptable.
More information on the I-9 form and a downloadable PDF
version may be obtained at the USCIS web address: http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-9.htm .
